LISTENING INTELLIGENCE FOR THE CONVERSATIONS THAT MATTER MOST
Bringing the science of listening beyond the workplace
into our most important relationships

We can love someone deeply and still completely miss what they need us to hear.
Misunderstandings don't happen because we "don't care", or "don't listen". Miscommunication often happens in the space between what was said and what was heard.
GO BEYOND ACTIVE LISTENING:
MOST OF US ARE RELYING ON OUTDATED FRAMEWORKS TO IMPROVE COMMUNICATION
PAY ATTENTION. MAKE EYE CONTACT. DON'T INTERRUPT. SHOW EMPATHY.
Those things matter. But they don't address something happening beneath the surface: we don't all listen the same way.
We each listen through our own set of unconscious filters. Those filters shape what we pay attention to, how we interpret what we hear, what we respond to—and sometimes, what we miss entirely.
That's why two people can walk away from the exact same conversation with very different interpretations of what just happened.
And when the relationship matters, those misunderstandings matter too.
Listening Intelligence goes beyond the behaviors of good listening to help us understand the cognitive habits that shape how we listen.
Whether it's a conversation with a spouse or partner, a parent or child, a sibling, a close friend, or family members navigating an important decision together, understanding how we listen differently can change the conversation.

The goal isn't to always agree. It's greater understanding, better alignment, and more productive conversations—especially when perspectives, emotions, or needs differ.
Who Is This For?
Listening Intelligence is for everyone who wants to communicate more effectively with the people who matter most.
Anyone who has ever thought...
“That's not what I said!”or heard, “That's not what I meant!”
Couples and partners who want to understand one another better and communicate with less frustration
People navigating separation or divorce who want to communicate more constructively as they redefine their relationship, and build a healthy co-parenting relationship for the future
Co-parents and former partners who need to continue communicating and making decisions together
Parents and adult children navigating changing roles, expectations, boundaries, or important family decisions
Siblings and family members collaborating around aging parents, caregiving, finances, or other shared responsibilities

Workshops & Coaching

Listening Intelligence can be explored through interactive workshops or through individual and relationship-focused coaching.
Workshops provide an engaging introduction to Listening Intelligence and the opportunity to learn and practice the framework with others.
Coaching provides a more personalized experience. Using the ECHO Listening Profile™ as a foundation, we'll explore your individual listening habits, the communication dynamics within an important relationship or situation, and practical adjustments you can make in the conversations that matter most.
Coaching may be helpful for individuals who want to improve how they communicate, or for two or more people who want to better understand one another and collaborate more effectively.
Education, Not Therapy
Listening Intelligence training and coaching are not therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment.
I am not a therapist. My role is different.
I teach a practical, research-informed framework for understanding how we listen, recognizing how others may listen differently, and developing the conversational agility to communicate more effectively.
We aren't diagnosing the relationship or trying to determine who is right or wrong. We're building awareness and practicing skills that can lead to greater understanding, alignment, and more productive conversations.
Listening Intelligence can complement therapeutic work, but it is not a substitute for professional mental health care when therapy is needed.
